So this morning marked the first annual visit with my new Urologist. Great - something else to look forward to every year. My family history for Prostate cancer is pretty scary. My father and 5 uncles have died from it. I have 6 cousins who have been diagnosed with it. That's just on his side of the family. Now my half brother (same mother) is dying from it now and I have 4 uncles and 3 cousins currently fighting it. There are just the ones I know about. Obviously it's not an option to ignore the fact that the odds of my getting this at some point are very high. Thus the visit to the Urologist.
If any of my male readers haven't had the experience of a prostate exam (and no, foreplay doesn't count) then when your day comes you're in for a real surprise. Expect some very cold lube, a powdery latex glove and having someone probe about in your nether region without getting a kiss afterwards. But it's only once a year and can potentially save your life. If you're over 45 (over 35 if you have family history) then call make an appointment today. Five minutes of discomfort is nothing when you look at the alternative.
Oh, and when you call ask what size latex glove the doctor wears. My new doctor wears an extra large. Enough said.

extra large gloves? eew. i'm gonna puke now... eew.
LOL
come visit my blog, i've caused some noise.
well you know bigger is better.
You could always hide something in there for your next visit to see if he really is looking to find something. :-)
I'm so glad you got checked!
With that said... I sometimes wear latex gloves in the kitchen...not sure if I can ever look at it the same again.
Excuse me, pumpkin...
But if he was "up in there" for five minutes, then he was in there for fun, not for profit, er... uhm... I mean an exam.
But I'm glad you have everything checked out. I don't have to worry for a few more years, based on statistics. But I am all over theHusband getting it checked out. He had, after all, reached "the age".
It's a medical exam AND foreplay! LOL!!!
Well done and thank you for sharing - it is so important that all men are more aware of their bodies and that they have a prostrate and should get checked. With your family history do you have to go more often than annually?
I get the dubious pleasure of enduring a vaginal smear test every so often for which they use a cold metal gadget and a scraper. It is a revolting and difficult exam for me.... it is one thing playing around for pleasure but another to have someone poking around on business. The bodily response is to just close down.
I remember first time (with my current Dr.) before he started his business I asked him if he loved me.
He said, roll over.
...I didn't even get dinner...
Update: I was given a clean bill of Prostate health. Guess I get to keep the boys for a few more years :-)
Thanks for the comments and concerns. You guys are the bomb.
